The first edition of the Cage-Free Tracker report in Asia, published in 2022, surveyed more than 50 food companies from or operating in India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand. It was found that 70% were already phasing out the use of eggs produced in battery cages in their supply chains. 32 companies operating in Asia responded, with 16% reporting progress in sourcing cage-free eggs in Asia or nationally in Asian countries.

 

In 2023, 65 companies were surveyed, 80% reported progress internationally, and 30.7% companies reported their progress in Asia, representing a 162.5% increase in reporting compared to the first year’s survey.
